Beauty maven Boots No7 wanted to shift the focus to how cosmetics made you feel. And looking tired or older than your years doesn’t feel so great. They also wanted to truly demonstrate the effects of aging and what we can do to course correct the damage we inflict on our skin each day. But how do you show the subtle signs of change — especially with something we see all the time?

To put it simply, we created an intuitive “Google maps for the face.” Skincare fans could navigate an extremely high resolution face by clicking, dragging and zooming to discover the four visible signs of aging: wrinkles, fine lines, loss of firmness and uneven pigmentation. Each facial hotspot came with a boatload of knowledge straight from Boots scientists. And after learning what No7 serum is right for them, users could get a demo on how to apply it properly.

The main feature of the experience, a woman’s face, was captured in high-res video, filmed with a 6K RED Epic camera. The footage was then looped so users could take their time to explore without feeling like there was a snag in their discovery.

By asking users to quite literally stare the signs of aging in the face, we encouraged them to take a closer look at their own skincare regimen and find ways to incorporate the power of Boots No7 into their daily routine.

“Our core challenge was to make the experience silky smooth while using very hi-res footage, so our audience can freely explore the map of the face. It had to serve as an educational tool and give women confidence in their own beauty routine.”
